According to IMDB.com, Aretha Franklin wants Jennifer Hudson to play her in the upcoming biopic based on her life. During the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony,
Franklin talked to
Hudson about her being the ideal choice to play her on the big screen. Apparently, a book based on
Franklin's life is scheduled to go into production within the coming months. Personally, I believe
Hudson would be perfect to play
Franklin on the big screen.

Aretha Franklin will be difficult to cast. Doing a bio on someone who is still living is the hardest casting there is, especially with someone who is a premiere singer, whose records are known world-wide and whose voice is instantly recognizable.
Franklin's piano playing is a big part of her persona also and for those of us who have seen her, especially in her heyday, this casting has to be perfect. I always thought that Aretha's own records would have to be dubbed. I don't remember what they did with Tina Turner in What's Love Got To Do With It? Did they dub Tina's voice?
Knowing Aretha, she won't allow a knockdown, dragout version of her life to be told. For a celebrity, she's extra private. Her book, From These Roots didn't reveal much of anything new about her. She seems to have tied author, David Ritz's hands behind his back. As an Aretha fans, we hardly learned anything about her we didn't already know.
Franklin has had an interesting life and she should probably stand back and allow the real story to be told. Coming off winning an Oscar, Jennifer Hudson needs a big follow-up role. The world will be watching.
